Who are we?


We take the Benedictine vows of Stability, Obedience and Conversion of Life, we value the traditions handed down to us in the Monastic life and seek to respond to God’s Spirit anew everyday through our prayer, work and community life. 


Founded in 1866, by Mother Monnica Skinner and Fr Henry Nihill be a praying witness for God’s love for his people expressed in the care for the most needy in society, a ministry which continues today through the work of our care home Henry Nihill House and through our hospitality to those seeking rest and spiritual renewal


Anyone interested in exploring the possibility of joining our Community is invited to contact the Mother Abbess


We also welcome women who are interested in ‘Monastic Time Out’ - sharing our life for a time, without making a long-term commitment, please contact Mother Abbess.


Oblates are also valued members of our Community. While leading independent lives, oblates support and are supported by the Community through prayer and fellowship, contributing to the common life as they are able.

We are a community of women living out the Gospel values in the Benedictine tradition and through our dedication to stand at the Cross of Jesus with Mary, his Mother, we seek to serve Christ in the poor, the sick, and in those who come to visit us.
